How this works

The Local List lists local businesses for Buncombe County, and we do not wait for every business to reply before listing it. Every listing wears one label, so you always know what you are looking at:

Unclaimed
We added this business using only what it publishes itself, on its own website or Google Business Profile: name, phone, website and the services or areas it names. We leave out hours and prices. The listing names the page we read and the date we checked. The business has not confirmed it yet.
Verified online
We checked more details against the business's own website and name the source and date. Not yet confirmed by phone or by the owner.
Verified by phone
We called the business and confirmed phone, hours and address. The listing shows the date.
Claimed by owner
The owner confirmed the details, through the claim form or with us for a Digest Small Business Highlight. The listing shows the date.

Is this your business?

Every Unclaimed listing has a Claim link that opens our form with your business name already filled in. Confirm the details, correct anything wrong, or ask us to remove the listing. Claiming is free. Removal requests are handled in our next update.

Categories that wait for the owner

Some listings only appear after the owner or we have confirmed them: herbal and wellness shops, schools, preschools and tutoring, and legal, accounting, financial, insurance and mortgage services.

What we never do

We never publish a price, hour or claim without a source. We never rank a business higher for money. Nothing here is an endorsement.

Digest Partner

One business per trade can be our featured partner: top spot on its trade page, a labeled badge, and a mention in the Digest. It is paid, it is always labeled, and the listing details follow the same rules as everyone else's. Where a trade has a Digest Partner, we do not add Unclaimed listings to that page. Ask about a Partner spot.

Sponsored Banners

Some category pages carry one banner marked "Sponsored". It is an ad, it never changes the order of listings or anyone's label, and it links straight to the sponsor. Ask about a banner.

Fix or add something

Report a change on any listing, or add your business. Both are free.
